I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT CELEBRATING AND PROMOTING LATIN AMERICAN MUSIC.
A native of Brazil, Andrea Silverio is an oboist based in Tuscaloosa where she is pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at The University of Alabama. Andrea is passionate about celebrating and promoting Latin American music and performing pieces of Brazilian and other Latino composers is something very close to her heart. She is constantly searching for new works for oboe both as solo or in a chamber music setting to perform by Latino composers as a way to enhance the repertoire of her instrument while giving voice and representation to those artists.
Andrea is also passionate about teaching and all the processes involved in that. She believes her goal as an educator is to be a supportive mentor to the students as education is a powerful tool to impact and change someone else’s lives. Andrea also enjoys working with social media and its creative process in finding ways to communicate with people, which is something she also loves.
