Horn player Dominic Hayes performs a blend of classical and modern music as a soloist and collaboratively across Michigan and the United States. He has performed with ensembles including the Moscow Ballet, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, and the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra. He currently is a member of the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra and the Adrian Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Pure Winds Wind Quintet. As a soloist, he has performed at the CHIME Festival at the University of Chicago and at the Society of Composers Inc. National Conference.
Besides performing, Dominic has a passion for teaching. He has been involved in outreach programs to schools across Michigan to help connect students with the arts. His students span a large spectrum of age and experience, from beginning students through adults. He has taught private lessons and coachings at schools in the Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor areas ranging from 6-12th grade. His students have been honored with awards including Honors Band invitations and first division ratings at Solo and Ensemble competitions.
Dominic earned his Bachelors Degree in Horn Performance in 2018 from Western Michigan University under Dr. Lin Foulk-Baird, and is currently studying at the University of Michigan with Adam Unsworth and Brian Kennedy for his M.M. Degree in Horn Performance.
